The Old Crone of the Woods

Sheila Clark is one of the longest held “prisoners” of New Salem. A willing exile, Sheila passed beyond the ability (and desire) to live among Witch-kind, let alone humans, years ago. Since her hermitage to the central forest of the Island predates most living memory, it is unknown if she was driven so far from humanity by the Croneswood, or it has become the sometimes disturbing place it is today because of her.

Those foolish or desperate enough to seek her council can find her deep in the forbidden areas of that forest on certain hilltops crowned with irregularly shaped stone altars or deep within unnamed ruins in washed out gullies. A rare few she will allow to find her cabin, grown and woven from the roots of alien trees. Her knowledge is broad and her powers, vast. But her reason has been tainted by ages of dealings with creatures from the “outside” and with mere mortals she is quick to anger and very dismissive.

Sarah Clark is said to be Sheila’s granddaughter. It is likely an introduction or some similar token willingly given by her would go a long way toward gaining (and surviving) an audience with the Old Crone of the Woods.
